The TOEFL Hong Kong Scholarship is established to support any TOEFL iBT test takers currently living in HongKong to fulfill their dreams through a fruitful and life-changing study experience.

The TOEFL iBT test is currently the shortest and most widely accepted English-language test in the market.
The TOEFL iBT is accepted by more than 12,500 universities and other institutions in over 160 countries, including 100% of the universities in the U.K., the U.S., Australia, Canada and New Zealand, as well as top institutions in Europe and Asia.
The total testing time is less than 2 hours and it measures the 4 academic English skills – Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.
At ETS we are dedicated to giving our test takers opportunities to realize their potential. The TOEFL Hong Kong Scholarship was first established by ETS in 2023 to support TOEFL iBT test takers in Hong Kong to fulfil their dreams through a fruitful and life-changing study experience.
To be eligible for the TOEFL Hong Kong Scholarship, applicants must:
hold a valid Hong Kong ID card (either Permanent Resident or Non-Permanent Resident).
commence study for any full-time academic programs* in the 2024/25 academic year (1 January, 2024 to 31 March, 2025 in specific), and that institution or program accepts TOEFL iBT scores as part of its admission requirements.
have a minimum TOEFL iBT total score of 60 or achieve the minimum TOEFL iBT score required by the intended academic program, whichever is higher.
register for taking a TOEFL iBT test in Hong Kong, between 1 April, 2023 and 7 July 2024, and be able to produce a valid TOEFL iBT score report as part of their application for the Scholarship.
be able to provide a Letter of Acceptance from the host institution before the panel interview.
hold a valid Hong Kong ID card (either Permanent Resident or Non-Permanent Resident).

* A full-time academic program includes all undergraduate degree programs, postgraduate degree programs, community college programs, and undergraduate / postgraduate pathway programs e.g. foundation programs, certificate and diploma programs.

Step 1: Download and complete the application form in English. Make sure to complete the personal statement section on the application form to illustrate:
- Why do you want to study in a particular subject and what is your professional goal?
- How do you think your intended study experience can benefit your personal and professional development?
- Why do you choose TOEFL iBT test? Anything you would like to say about your TOEFL journey?
Step 2: Make sure you also have these documents prepared:
- A scanned copy of a valid Hong Kong ID card (either in pdf or jpg format)
- A soft copy of a valid TOEFL iBT score report (in pdf format)
- A scanned copy of a recent passport-sized photo (in jpg format)
Step 3: Submit your application package to toefl-hk@etsglobal.org by 11:59 p.m. (HK Time), Sunday, 7 July 2024.

Applications close at 11.59 p.m. (HK time). Late submissions will not be considered.
Shortlisting & Panel Interview
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a 20-minute panel interview.
Notification of Results
Successful candidates should provide a Letter of Acceptance issued by their host institution to confirm their prize acceptance.
Can I apply for the TOEFL Hong Kong Scholarship if I am a non-permanent resident currently studying or working in Hong Kong?
Am I still eligible if I have taken / am going to take the TOEFL iBT Home Edition test?
I am going to study a university foundation program / certificate program / diploma program at an overseas institution. Am I eligible?
Is the scholarship limited to academic programs operated by institutions in an English-speaking country?
I am planning to study a transnational education program organized by a non-local institution in Hong Kong, but I am not traveling overseas for the study. Am I eligible for application?
My intended program commences after 31 March, 2025. Can I still apply?
